On the morning of Memorial Day 2023 when people were getting up to go to the lake or the pool or some outdoor activity I got a hold of the acapellas for the new Jack Harlow album Jackman & I knew I was going to spend the day staring at my computer remixing the album. If you guys haven’t heard this one yet definitely check it out. Now I don’t get inspired by much musically these days but when I heard this album the day it dropped I listened to it several times, which is something that rarely happens for me anymore. I’ve been preaching to my friends how dope Jack Harlow is for awhile now but with this album he really tapped into something special. When music hits me like that, my instinct is to remix it. That’s my favorite way to connect with music. I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to remix the whole album in one day. The plan was to make a Blend tape and put Jacks vocals over instrumentals from an artist who inspired him and I had seen something that he was a fan of Jay-Z so I went with that. I did a similar project with Jay-Z vocals over Calvin Harris instrumentals, but never anything with Jay’s beats. Jay was a great fit because after hearing how dope Jack sounded on his beats, this project will allow the older hip hop fans from my generation to hear him in a familiar way. I haven’t done a project like this in awhile but I was so inspired to do it that I finished all 10 blends and sequenced the mix in one day. I added some drops the next day and here it is for your listening pleasure! I arranged the songs in a different order than his album but I love the flow of it, enjoy! Here's the tracklist:
